Game of Thrones – Crazy Couture!

Whether you’re a fanatical fan of GOT or not, you’ll have to admit that the costumes are other worldly!  The Costume Designer is Michele Carragher – check out her Blog here!

Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen

Lena Headey as Cersei Baratheon and Natalie Dormer as Margaery Baratheon

Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark

Michelle Fairley as Catelyn Stark

Imperial Russian Royalty – Anastasia

I love to rift on leading designer styles (like the above from Gucci Fall 2008 Russian Princess look) in addition to creating my own.  I bought a Guess brand heavy wood coat with princess seams and pleated bottom Guess that I then decorated with mink fur, gold and burgundy ribbon, a different belt buckle and buttons.  I found the authentic Romanian burgundy embroidered white peasant blouse festooned with burgundy glass beads, smocking and delicate crocheting on ebay – shipped directly from…you guessed it, Romania!  I trimmed the blouse at the neck and hem with velvet ribbon and miniature beaded tassels.  The pants are black stretch velvet and black leather boots with front gold zipper complete this stunning ensemble!  I get massive compliments every time I wear it!

Jean Paul Gaultier Retrospective at the Brooklyn Museum

Madonna’s Corset

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk’
exhibition at Brooklyn Museum begins today in NYC!

This exhibition features 135+ haute couture and pret-a-porter Gaultier designs via intriguing vignettes and moody lighting.  JPG is one of my favorite fashion designers because of his warrior women costumes and other worldly accessories!
